I want to help. Here's how I can.
I've gone to a lot of schooling and training. I've got a dual master's degree in individual and couples/family counseling. I'm a certified Child Mental Health Specialist. I'm trained in and utilize multiple research based methods including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy and Gottman Method couples counseling. I am always reading and thinking about the human condition and how to find peace and happiness in this life.
Ultimately though, I’m just a normal guy. I have problems just like you or anyone else. But in dedicating my time and education to this career I have learned a lot about how to deal with all of the challenges life hands us and I have a lot of valuable insight to offer. I am the first to admit that I do not have all of the answers. I consider myself to be a fellow traveler on this journey of life and am much more interested in helping you discover what solutions will work best for you than trying to force any of my great ideas down your throat. What I love about counseling is the opportunity to get to know people on a more personal level. So much of the time we go around pretending that everything is okay. Someone asks how we are doing and how often do we really tell them what is going on? And when we do, we don’t always get the reaction we were hoping for. You don’t need to worry about that here. If there is one skill that I’m confident in, it’s the ability to listen, empathize, and reflect in a way that I hope will help you to feel comfortable, understood, and motivated to make real changes. |
Not sure what to do? Here's what to expect.
At your first visit I want to hear your story. I will guide our conversation, but allow you to set the pace. We will work on identifying your goals for counseling and determine how I can be of best help to you. My hope is that you will feel comfortable and that the act of sharing will be a cathartic experience for you.
